  • Almost two months of confinement the activity of FC Barcelona returns at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper (Barcelona training ground)
  • Sergi Roberto, Rakitic, Lenglet and Ter Stegen were the first to arrive

They had to spend 54 days to see the FC Barcelona cracks again at their training ground. After March 13, and after almost two months of confinement due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Barça players have been arriving to the club this morning at the Sant Joan Despí facilities to take the first coronavirus tests.

The early risers, around 8:30 am (Italy time), were Sergi Roberto, Rakitic, Lenglet and Ter Stegen. Frenkie de Jong, Nelson Semedo, Arthur Melo and Martin Braithwaite have subsequently joined.

Shortly after the Danish, after 9.40am, Leo Messi and Luis Suárez also arrived, as always together, although this time in each one in his car. At midmorning it was the turn of Neto, Arturo Vidal and Antoine Griezmann.

Shortly before eleven it was the turn of Piqué, Umtiti ,Riqui Puig and Gerard Piqué. As can be seen in the MD images, many of the players have appeared protected with masks and gloves.

During this Wednesday and Thursday, the rest of the staff will continue to carry out tests and it is planned that if everything goes well from next week, training will begin. As noted by MD, they will start in small groups and in four different fields. As the days go by, people will gather until they can train as a group as they go through phases.

During this first phase of training, the players will always work alone, with gloves and without direct contact with their colleagues. In cases of continuous running, a safety distance of at least two meters is recommended.

Once this first phase is over, Barça players will be able to start the medium training phase, in which they can already start working together. In principle, according to the protocol of the CSD sent to the clubs, the Catalans should concentrate to avoid contact with family or other people. The club could do in La Masia, located in the very Ciutat Esportiva and now empty of residents, although out opposing players were in the fact of having to be concentrated. In this phase, Setién, Sarabia and all members of the coaching staff will be required to wear gloves and masks.

The third phase of this plan to return to work would already be that of total pre-competition training. In total, the three phases can last about three or four weeks. A term that will start counting from May 10 or 11.

There is still no exact date to return to the competition but after almost two months stopped, despite the fact that the footballers have done specific work at home to keep in shape, they need a few weeks of ‘preseason’ to pick up the pace and power again face the League , which would be in June and until the end of July, and the Champions League , which is scheduled to take place in August.
